Background A London landmark, Victoria Coach Station was designed by architects Wallis, Gilbert and Partners and opened in 1932. As the figures on the left suggest, this poster was created by painting over a black-and-white photograph. It has been dated elsewhere to 1932 but the style is later and the reference to continental travel suggests the post-war years. London Coastal Coaches Ltd, founded in 1925, operated the Coach Station until subsumed into the National Bus Company in 1970.
