A BRIGHT and striking original vintage poster from 1958 from British european Airways (BEA), featuring a fine photograph by the Swiss photographer Martin Hürlimann (1897-1984) of St Basil's Cathedral in Moscow.

Background A state airline serving European destinations, BEA operated from 1946 until 1974, when it merged with British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) to become British Airways. This poster appeared in the year of the first BEA flights to Moscow, although a regular scheduled service did not begin until 1959, when other versions of this poster appeared. Hürlimann was a distinguished travel photographer. This shot first appeared in his book Moscow and Leningrad, published by Thames and Hudson, 1958.
