This poster, first issued by Great Western Railways and London, Midland and Scottish, here carries the imprint of their successor, British Railways, created in 1948. Gloucester Cathedral is one of the glories of English religious architecture, with elements in the Norman, Gothic and perpendicular styles. The scene below shows the hurried wartime crowning of Henry III, who succeeded King John aged nine and reigned for 56 years. The printer is London Lithographic.
