Background  Chapman was acclaimed in the 1950s for his paintings of industrial and other scenes in the Rhondda Valley of South Wales. Here, in bright and cheerful tones, he has depicted landmarks including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Big Ben clocktower and St Paul’s Cathedral, with a crowded Thames cruise boat in the foreground.
