Background The poster reminds the public of the scope of the Tate collection, mentioning a dozen artists including Picasso, Bacon and Mondrian. Gertler (1891-1939) was a London painter associated with the Bloomsbury literary circle and known for his unrequited love for Dora Carrington. Merry-Go-Round, generally considered to be a comment on the First World War, is his most famous work.
