Background
Viollet-le-Duc worked most famously on restorations of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris and the city walls of Carcassonne. He has been criticised for altering, or as he saw it enhancing, his buildings. The poster is a drawing for works at the Conciergerie in central Paris. The Sainte Chapelle is visible behind. The poster was published by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, designed by Jean-Pierre Rocher and printed by Imprimerie Moderne du Lion of Paris.
