A RARE and attractive original vintage poster by John Greene for British Railways promoting rail links up the Rhine valley from the ferry port of Hook of Holland, probably dating from the 1950s.

Background
The text bottom right refers to the two tourist trains that plied the route from the Dutch ferry terminal at the Hook (Hoek) of Holland up the Rhine valley by way of Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Cologne (Köln), Bonn, Coblence (Coblenz), Mayence (Mainz), Mannheim, Carlsruhe and Freiburg to Bâle (Basel) in Switzerland. The work is signed 'Greene' and this is John Greene, who produced several posters for British Railways in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The printer was Jordinson & Co of London and Middlesbrough and the publisher was British Railways Eastern Region.
