Background
The poster was printed by Smurfits of Dublin and issued by the Royal Dublin Society, which stages the annual show at its grounds in the Ballsbridge area of Dublin. The show dates from 1864. The image, showing a woman in dressage costume side-saddle on a magnificent chestnut horse with a white blaze, is signed with the overlaid initials SV or VS.
