Come to Britain for Motoring, 1948?
AN EXTREMELY fine original vintage poster from the late 1940s featuring a painting of a Scottish scene by Norman Hepple (1908-94). The location appears to be the beauty spot known as Rest and Be Thankful in Argyllshire.
75.5cm x 50cm
There are pinholes in the corners and minor wrinkling on the margins. Otherwise very good. If you would like to know more please get in touch.
This is one of a series of general British travel posters said to have been issued to coincide with the 1948 Olympic Games in London. The date may be borne out by the car on the right, which appears to be a Rover P3, a model that came on the market early in that year. Hepple was a distinguished artist best known as a portraitist. The poster was issued by the Travel Association of Great Britain and printed by W.S. Cowell.
