Background The DC-6 was a workhorse of passenger aviation worldwide in the post-war years. Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) acquired 14 Super-DC-6Bs in 1952. The cutaway shows the de luxe layout, with seating for 50, a stateroom and ladies’ lounge. SAS used DC-6s to open the first service from Europe to Los Angeles by a polar route, with stops in Greenland and Winnipeg. No artist or designer is identified.
