Background 'Picasso à Villauris: Photographie par André Villiers, Chateau-Musée de Villauris'. Villers (1930-2016) was in Antibes recovering from tuberculosis in the early 1950s when he met Picasso, who gave him his first camera. He worked closely with the artist, then living in Villauris, for several years, taking many portraits. Villers went on to photograph many leading cultural figures.
