A VERY FINE original vintage poster from 1956 featuring an aerial photograph of the Chateau of Chenonceau in the Loire Valley and its ornamental gardens.
Size 60cm x 40cm
Condition Good. There are two small punch-holes close to the top edge. Otherwise excellent, a sharp image with bright colours. If you would like to know more please get in touch.
Background Built in the 16th century across the River Cher, a tributary of the Loire, Chenonceau is one of the most famous of all French chateaux. It has a particular association with powerful women of the 16th century: Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Medici and Louise de Lorraine. Today is is the property of the Menier family, owners of the Menier chocolate company.
