Background The town and citadel of Bonifacio are a thousand years old and overlook the strait of Bonifacio which lies between Corsica and Sardinia. The citadel was for some years the headquarters of the French Foreign Legion. The photograph is by Alain Perceval (1933- ), an internationally-renowned specialist in aerial work.
