A FINE original vintage 1956 French poster giving an aerial view taken by Raymond Delvert of the then-new Donzère-Mondragon hydroelectric dam on a canal alongside the River Rhone in Vaucluse, in the Provence region of southeast France.

Background Delvert (1914-1992) was a prolific and pioneering aerial photographer who piloted his own plane. He is also known for his role in developing 'photo-finish' technology for the horse-racing industry. The printer is E. Desfossés-Néogravure of Paris and the poster was published by French government's Direction Générale du Tourisme. The dam, an important symbol of post-war technological progress in France, was completed in 1952 and was declared a French national monument in 1992. On the right can be seen the Bollène lock.
