Very good. We have recently had this poster expertly cleaned, restored and backed on Japanese paper. If you would like to know more please get in touch.
Constant-Duval (1877-1956) was a leading figure among the stable of great poster artists employed by French railway companies in the inter-war years. His speciality was rural landscapes. Here the view is northwards over the village of St-Jacques-des-Blats, with a farmer and oxcart in the foreground. The poster was printed by Lucien Serre of Paris and is dated as follows: ‘P.O. Publicité No 3 1930’.
