A FINE vintage original poster from the 1920s by the artist Pierre Commarmond (1887-1993) for the Chemin de Fer du Midi company, promoting the 'Transpyrénéen' line and presenting a scene at the village of Porta in the high Pyrenees.

Background
The ink stamp at top right states: 'Chemins de Fer de l'État. Secrétariat Général (Publicité). Bon pour Afficher.' The village of Porta is in a valley in the Pyrenees Orientales department, close to Andorra. The ruined towers of Carol date from the 14th century.
